The Kotouč MS7-9 Sequential Gearbox constructed for the Mitsubishi Evo 4-9 is the ultimate in transmission technology for the Evolution on the market today. It employs 7 forward gears for increased acceleration performance. Full billet casing.
The Kotouč 7 speed sequential gearbox is designed to fit in the original position as a direct replacement for the
standard gearbox. Additionally, the original starter motor, front and rear gearbox mounts, driveshafts, center
differential all remain original. There is no modification required to any of those parts, so installation is
straightforward and time and costs are saved..
Key Features:
•Forwards Speeds + Reverse
•Full Billet Alloy Casing
•3 Shaft Design
•Seamless sequential Shifting
•Direct Replacement for the original transmission
To fit this gearbox only modification needed is an integral hydraulic clutch release bearing, provision for the OEM Clutch release bearing pivot fork is not incorporated in to the billet gearbox casing. We recommend the use of a multiplate unsprung competition clutch such as Tilton Twin or Triple – Compatible release bearings: Tilton 61-9002 & 61-9012
For those looking to upgrade, the sequential gearbox is prepared for a hydraulic clutch bearing, and mounting position for a piston in the case of paddle shifting. An oil outlet and inlet are available for the compatibility of an oil pump and cooler and a spare thread prepared for an oil temperature sensor.
Kotouc dog ring technology and engineering of the shifting barrel allows for the smoothest and cleanest shifting gearbox on the market. The arrangement of the gearing on the shafts allows for a 7 speed gearbox in a space usually that only 5 gears would fit. Moreover, the maximum width of the gears are 25mm!! Almost twice the size of the originals.
•Proven in Time Attack, Racing, Rallying & Hill climbing, it’s the perfect addition to any high-end competition car or fast road car.
•Rated & Proven to work reliably with 1500nm torque reliably
•The MS6-7 Sequential Gearbox for Mitsubishi Evo 4-9 incorporates the Kotouc Gearboxes patented dog ring technology for short, smooth and quick gear changes. Flat shifting of gears is done with ease with a quick and smooth feel.
•Supplied with inlet & outlet ports to enable external oil coolers to maintain low transmission oil temperatures. (In most applications additional cooling is not needed.)
•The Mitsubishi Sequential Gearbox also has been future proofed for hydraulic paddle shifting. As an optional upgrade, we can install a shifting piston directly inside the gearbox, thereby saving you a lot of weight on additional parts should you wish to upgrade to a paddle shift in the future.
•Full Spare parts, Service & Back up support in the UK
•Max torque: 1500nm
•Gear shift layout: R-N-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-R-N
•Choice of 8 ratios and customization is available
BEFORE PURCHSING PLEASE READ BELOW:
The base price shown is for the Kotouc sequential gear kit, this kit forms the basis for a number of other kits. In order to make it specific for the Evo a number of OEM parts are required, these include the center differential, bellhousing (Where applicable), nuts, bolts, seals, etc. We can provide a list of donor parts needed if you wish to provide your own donor parts, or we can provide the complete built kit by clicking the link on the right to add the kit to your order. For customers option for us to supply the build kit, you will also receive free factory build on your new transmission, so it will arrive in a crate ready to fit directly to the car.
If you are providing your own donor parts, all parts must be new.
We also highly recommend upgrading the center diff output shaft – these are known to fail at over 450nm.
We can also incorporate the Quaife ATB as an alternative to the OE Open center diff.
The shifting is best done with the Kotouc lever or paddle shift strategy, however it you wish to install your own lever & strain gauge assembly, this is fine. We recommend to conned the lever to the transmission with a solid rod for best results, however we can also supply a shifting cable if a direct line from the lever to the shift lever on the gearbox cannot be achieved.
With any sequential transmission best results are achieved with a light weight upsprung competition clutch – e.g Tilton Twin or Triple clutch.
Paddle shifting is via integrated hydraulic ram, if you wish to use paddle shift we can help advise you on suitable pumps & component to build the system.
