With more and more quick Evos being well driven on track on semi and full slicks the risk of engine damage from oil surge is increased, especially on long right hand bends. Whilst we appreciate there is no replacement for a dry sump system, the theory of keeping as much oil as possible in a wet sump can only be a good thing an may provide vital extra oil at the end of a high-G corner.
We have put together a basic oil surge kit for Evo 4-9 consisting of 1 x Tomei Slicing Baffle kit & Kiggly Racing HLA regulator.
The Tomei Scraper and windage tray work in combination to wipe the crank and feed oil back to the sump pan, whilst the Kiggly HLA (fitted in the head) regulates the pressure to the head and valve train to the the minimum operational pressure specified by Mitsubishi, again this reduces the volume in the top end at any one time, so there will be more around the pick up in the sump pan.
The Tomei scraper kit is designed for Evo 4-9 2.0l engines - but can be fettled to fit and work just as effectively on stroker engines.
